Valdeolivas Feast of the Olive
Saturday April 30, 2011

The next Saturday, April 30, Alcarria Conquense The Fiesta celebrates its fifth Olive in the town, as usual, of Valdeolivas. This party emerged in 2007 in connection with the adoption a year earlier, the Designation of Origin "Alcarria Oil."

This event encouraged the Rural Development Group CEDER Alcarria Conquense to promote a party around the olive oil, through PRODER-2 program, and with the support of the Council of the Designation of Origin Oil and the City Council Alcarria Valdeolivas.

This event, now funded by the LEADER Programme 2007-2013, which manages CEDER Alcarria Conquense, has become a local cultural event and very importantly, acknowledged at the provincial and regional levels, which proudly displays the Alcarria Conquense cultural wealth around oil and cultivation of a variety of olive, Castilian or Verdejo, virtually unique to this region.

The objective of this conference is to bring and raise awareness of the entire population of the hallmarks of this region, while promoting the oil, its importance in the Mediterranean diet and the undoubted benefits to health.

Oil The Alcarria has, as it should have an extra virgin olive oil, all attributes of the fruit, vitamins, antioxidants, aroma and low acidity. It is therefore a well-balanced oil with a very healthy behavior for both oil consumption and frying.

For the Feast of the Olive this year, the City of Valdeolivas has organized a full schedule of activities for everyone: art competitions and pruning, oil tastings, exhibitions, treatrales, performances folklore, poetry, music to a popular food in the Plaza Vieja, prepared and served by the residents of Valdeolivas.
